The ECaBox consortium gathered for their third in-person meeting at the London Institute of Healthcare Engineering (LIHE) from June 4th to June 6th, 2024.

The event kicked off with an informal dinner at a local pub on the evening of June 4th, providing an opportunity for colleagues to catch up and start conversations.

On June 5th, the first full day of the meeting featured a packed agenda of updates and discussions. Consortium members shared progress across various research work packages, including the successful completion of the second project review. The sessions were filled with exciting developments and lively discussions, addressing questions and concerns along the way.

An engaging visit to the School of Biomedical Engineering & Imaging Sciences at King’s College London was also part of the day’s activities, featuring an exciting guided tour at the implantable device facility (MAISI) and at the mock operating theatre at the department of Surgical & Interventional Engineering.

The first day ended with a delightful Indian dinner in East London.

The second day focused on the project’s publication plan, IP protection strategies, dissemination efforts, and coordination aspects. A highlight was the keynote talk by Prof. Peter Hitchcock (University of Michigan), a valued member of the ECaBox Scientific Advisory Board and an expert in regenerative neurogenesis.

To conclude their productive time together, the partners enjoyed a walk along the Thames Southbank and a drink by the river, strengthening connections beyond the formal meeting setting.

As the meeting wrapped up, consortium members left London with a sense of progress and determination, looking forward to continuing their work and reuniting in Barcelona for the final event in spring 2025.
