June: A Milestone Month for ECaBox

June 2025 marked a vibrant closing chapter for the ECaBox project, set to officially end in August 2025, filled with scientific exchange, collaborative planning, and creative outreach to the public.

Here’s a look back at our final key events in Barcelona:

👁️ ECaBox Symposium: Seeing the Future

3 June, PRBB Auditorium
The ECaBox Symposium brought together leading voices in ophthalmology and regenerative medicine for a full day of discussion on the future of eye research. From retinal regeneration to cutting-edge therapeutic innovation, the event showcased the latest advancements in the field. In addition to the ECaBox team, we welcomed a distinguished group of international experts, making this a rich space for knowledge exchange and collaboration.

🤝 In Person Consortium Meeting

4–5 June, CRG
Consortium members gathered for the final project meeting to present progress on research tasks and milestones ahead of the project’s conclusion in August. The team also revised together the developing ECaBox prototype and discussed upcoming preparations for the final review meeting with the European Commission in October this year.

🎨 SEEING: An Eye and a Box Exhibition

5–14 June, Centre Cívic Convent de Sant Agustí
A collaboration between CRG and the artistic collective NAKED SPACE, this public exhibition invited visitors on a multisensory journey through light, vision, and scientific imagination. Featuring inflatable structures, soundscapes, and holograms, the installation challenged perceptions of sight and made science tangible for all, especially with full accessibility for visitors with visual impairments.

The exhibition launched with a public dialogue, where artists and scientists shared their perspectives on the making of this unique encounter between science and art.

During the opening time of the exhibition, hundreds of visitors got to explore the installation and learn about the themes behind ECaBox.
